FAQ

What is a pole class like?

  • An intro class will start with a 12-15 minute warmup followed by a structured, step by step instruction of intro level dance moves that will then be put together to create a short choreography. Students will have the opportunity to ask questions throughout the class and seek assistance from the instructor one-on-one for support mastering certain moves. The class will end with a 10 minute cool down.
  • Level classes will start with a 12-15 minute warmup followed by 10-15 minutes of conditioning time to work on a specific muscle set, activity, or pose. The class will then practice ways to incorporate this practice into movement and dance flows. Students can practice skills learned in class in the form of a freestyle dance. Class will end with a 10 minute cool down.

What happens if I need to cancel?

  •  If you need to cancel a class, please do so no later than 12 hours prior to the start time of the class for both group lessons and private lessons. If you cancel within the 12 – hour window, you will lose the class credit. If you begin feeling unwell or learn of a potential COVID exposure after the early cancel window has closed, contact us and we will refund your class credit. Use of this policy requires a 14 day waiting period, a negative COVID-19 test, or a negative test for your potentially exposed contact before you may return to the studio. In the event that Burlington declares a snow emergency, we will cancel classes – you will be texted and your reservation cancelled and your class pass will be returned to your account.

How do I properly prepare for a class?

  • The Studio Policies section is a great place to find information about how to prepare for class.

Should I bring anything?

  • Students are encouraged to bring their own mat, blocks, and water. If you don’t own your own mat, no worries – we have a few extras!

What should I wear?

  • You may wear whatever your heart desires! Please refer to the class description of the class you are signed up for for details regarding what level and areas of skin exposure may be needed for class.

I’m new. What class should I sign up for?

  • New students should start with Intro to Pole and take this class 3-5 times before progressing into Level 1. All new students are welcome to join floorwork, conditioning, stretch and burlesque classes at any time!

Do I need to sign up in advance? Are drop-in’s allowed?

  • We recommend booking ahead of time on Punchpass to secure a spot in class. Drop in appearances are not guaranteed a spot in the class.

What if I’m not strong enough?

  • Good news – strength is something you build after you start pole dancing! There are zero requirements for Intro to Pole and many of our other classes.

What about the bruising?

  • Due to its very nature, pole dancing is a form of exercise that relies on pressure and grip, which is why pole dancing requires so much skin and such little clothing! Therefore, bruising (we affectionately refer to them as “pole kisses”) is very common especially for beginners. Over time, the body bruises much less as it becomes used to pressure in certain areas. Gentle stretching is part of the cool down after classes and helps ease bruising.
