Meet Our Team
About Us
Founded in 2021 by a group of five, RevolVT is an inclusive, intersectional, collaborative dance space and community. We offer classes that range from pole basics, to strength and conditioning, to burlesque-inspired movement, taught by our member-owners. We strive to create a welcoming environment where all bodies can explore movement and musicality. We are a POC/LGBTQIA/SW owned space, and we recognize the roots of the movement we teach and celebrate.
ALYX @Axyl.black
Before starting pole, Alyx was a ballet dancer for 15 years and transitioned to weight lifting after college. Alyx began her pole journey late 2019 and immediately fell in love with the sport because of the strength, grace and discipline it requires. The skills she gained from her dance and strength training background transferred very well to pole and were an excellent foundation for her.
Alyx’s pole style is a reflection of her athletic history. She firmly believes that training for pole happens on, but especially off the pole. You can expect to learn unique and challenging tricks in her classes, regardless of level. You’ll leave class feeling tired (in the best way) and accomplished.
Alyx’s favorite thing as an instructor is watching her students build their confidence and strength all while having fun.
AVA @Spinners.and.Saints
Ava comes to RevolVT as a former avid student of Bohemienne Fitness. You’ll most likely find her on spin pole practicing fluidity! Her background as a mental health practitioner informs her interpretation of dance as a means of emotional healing. Ava’s teaching style emphasizes the art of finding safety and familiarity with both your body and your sensuality. Outside the studio, you’ll find her advocating for trauma-informed treatment for addicts and incarcerated individuals, buying too many plants, and roller dancing. Ava’s teaching style incorporates a blend of spin pole, heel technique and an emphasis on fluidity.
kathryn
With zero background in dance, gymnastics, or strength training, Kathryn stumbled upon pole fitness in early 2019 and immediately fell in love with the challenge and the community. She spent the next 3 years learning aerial skills on silks and pole at Empyrean Arts in Asheville, NC before moving to Burlington in 2022 and finding RevolVT.
For Kathryn, the pole studio has been a safe space to build confidence and strength while feeling supported and connected to other humans. She strives to recreate this feeling by providing a warm, inclusive, and welcoming environment for fellow students. Kathryn finds pole class to be key for her physical and mental health, and she is ecstatic to share this passion with others.
krystine
Krystine took her first pole class in 2011, but started taking regular classes in 2017. She has an AA in Dance from Dean College, is a former certified personal trainer, a former nationally ranked and world record holding powerlifter, and has been teaching various styles of dance over the last 20 years. She has extensive dance and pole performance experience. Krystine has taken pole classes in Hawaii, Las Vegas, Colorado, Vermont, and Denmark, including a master class with Marion Crampe. She’s been a student at RevolVT since 2022 and is excited to be teaching in a studio with such a strong mission statement of inclusivity and diversity.
OLIVIA @arrowwithansh
Olivia began pole dancing in 2018. With her background in dance and natural upper body strength, she immediately fell in love with the mix of balance, sensuality, and power that pole can have. In November 2019, she competed in the Northeast Pole Sport Organization competition. Olivia is one of the founding members of RevolVT and especially enjoys sharing her passion for pole with new students. When she’s not dancing, she’s doing something outside in central Vermont with her partner and daughter.
SAVVIE @Ruthless.Retribution
Savvie comes to RevolVT as a former student of Bohemienne Fitness and member of Green Mountain Cabaret. They perform and produce local night life shows under the stage name Ruthless Retribution, and have studied and performed burlesque, stripping, and cabaret under multiple tutors since 2012. They came to pole dance in 2016 with a love and reverence for the stripping community and all things seductive. Savvie’s teaching style incorporates sultry elements of performance and collective choreography to release and embrace the sensuality within. Current certifications in progress include: XPert Pole fitness Levels 1 +2, Vertical Joe’s Twerk Technician, part of production group Grimm’s Domain.
VICKIE @OperaVertDancer
Vickie began her pole journey after seeing a pole dancer perform in an opera (yes, opera) and since 2016 has made pole a passionate part of her identity. She studied and taught pole with Bohemienne Fitness in Burlington, Vermont, has studied with over 20 different pole studios across the world, and placed 1st in the 2019 Level 3 Dramatic Pole Sports Organization (PSO) competition. Her love of pole comes from the amazing journey of watching her body evolve, her self-confidence blossom, and sharing the joy and struggle of pole with other diverse and beautiful humans!
Vickie’s teaching style is one of positive vibes, honesty, and healthy, balanced athleticism. She teaches from a place of humble skill and works to help students find their own unique connection to each trick and movement.
Alumni Teachers
Alison
Alison has been a student of dance for 35 years. She grew up studying in a pre-professional dance program for youngsters in central Florida. She was immersed in ballet, jazz, contemporary, and tap dance until she attended the University of Florida. She studied with Deborah Barnes (DDK Danceworks), Suzanne Salapa and even took some classes with Mia Michaels before she became a national name and a judge on the tv show ‘So You Think You Can Dance.’
Alison started dancing on a pole in 2014 where she brought her dance training and understanding of movement to the apparatus. She decided to open Bohemienne Fitness in 2016 after much independent practice at home and becoming a certified group fitness instructor through American Council on Exercise. She is also certified as an Elevated Education, Level 1 instructor. She recognized the need for pole dance fitness training in Vermont and Bohemienne Fitness was the first studio of its kind to open in the state. Alison taught over 1,000 group classes and coached several winning pole dance competitors while leading Bohemienne Fitness. She has studied pole over the years with some of the biggest names in the business: Marlo Fisken, Michelle Stanek, and Marion Crampe to name a few. Alison’s students have gone on to teach pole dance fitness, start pole related businesses, compete in pole, and perform pole for live audiences.
Alison is excited to continue her instructing journey with RevolVT! She believes that beginners should be immersed in safe pole technique and progressive building of body awareness, skill, and strength on the pole. She welcomes you to come train with her!
christina
Christina started pole dancing in April 2016 at Bohemienne Fitness in Burlington, VT and was instantly hooked (with a back hook spin!). She became a pole dance instructor at Bohemienne Fitness in May 2018, teaching multiple classes per week right up until the studio closed in March 2020. Also in 2018, she completed a four-day Pole Flow Intensive (Articulate Body) training course with Marlow Fisken where she had a crash course in body waves and static pole flow. She has competed at PSO Northeast and occasionally performed at local Vermont venues over the years. She has a strong passion for pole dance and loves to share that passion with others.
lexi
Lexi fell in love with the world of pole in a small town in North Carolina after watching a friend perform in their showcase. She was immediately hooked and jumped into the sport without a second thought. Lexi has been participating in pole since 2017, and she has been an instructor in NC since 2018. She is so happy to be a part of the RevolVT community. Her foundation is in pole moves that showcase strength and flexibility, but she continues to practice her fluidity and slink at RevolVT. Outside of pole, you’ll find her at her day job as a Physical Therapist, snowboarding with her husband, or cuddling up with her pups and a good book.
